36-year-old Marc Olley has been imprisoned for biting and spitting at police officers while another man has been jailed for coughing in an officer’s face amid COVID-19 pandemic.
Olley from Grimsby was imprisoned for 20 weeks after biting and spitting at two police officers before claiming he had coronavirus.
“If your face was down here, I would spit right in your face,” Olley told police officers. He was dragged to the ground due to his behavior but made threats and was aggressive. He bit his fingers and claimed he had coronavirus.
Olley, who was jailed for 20 weeks, said he was ‘appalled and disgusted with himself.’
This comes after 37-year-old Alex Wood from Bridge End, Dorchester coughed in an officer’s face after reportedly hitting a woman with a can.
Wood grabbed the woman and hit her face with a can. He was charged at Oxford Magistrates’ Court where he was convicted the following day.
He pleaded guilty to one count of assaulting an emergency worker, one count of assault by beating, and one count of criminal damage to property.
He was imprisoned for 12 weeks for assault by beating and 10 weeks for assaulting an emergency worker. Four more weeks were added for criminal charge.
29-year-old Elena Gasca from Lewisham has denied assault on emergency staff after being accused of coughing at cops while also claiming she had coronavirus, while 35-year-old Oliver Cook from Kent was sent to prison for 120 days after spitting at an officer and claiming he had coronavirus.
Cook, who was arrested outside a supermarket after he was caught trying to steal meat, spat at a police officer and said: “I have coronavirus.”
This comes as amid a flood of ‘coronavirus’ attacks on healthcare workers across the country during covid-19 lockdown in which nurses, doctors and other emergency workers have been victims of muggings and abuse.
