A 34-year-old man was found dead in his prison cell only a few days after being arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting and murdering a 9-year-old girl with chloroform.
Jeffrey Beagley, a suspected pedophile, has been found unresponsive in his cell at the Mesa County Jail in Grand Junction.
According to reports, the medical examiner was waiting for toxicology results before the official cause of death would be released but said that Beagle’s death doesn’t seem suspicious.
The 34-year-old was arrested only 9 days earlier on numerous charges in relation to the death of a nine year old girl.
Officers had been investigating him since the child was found lifeless in a home in Grand Junction.
The 9-year-old girl had lived at the home with her mother, sister, and also Beagley.
Beagley allegedly murdered the girl with chloroform, according to the arrest affidavit.
Officers said they discovered a rag and an empty 100-millimeter bottle of chloroform inside a shed. Beagley is believed to have purchased it online and it was delivered the day before the child was killed.
When questioned about the order receipt, the 34-year-old first explained that he bought it for hemp production.
Inside the shed were pillows and blankets, and also a computer monitor, video camera, laptop, balloons, masks, lubricants, sex toys, and heaters. Drops of blood were found on some of the blankets.
Detectives allegedly discovered child porn photos where Beagley’s face had been digitally changed into the pictures.
Beagley was arrested for first-degree murder, reckless manslaughter, sexual exploitation of children, child abuse resulting in death, and invasion of privacy for sexual gratification.
One internet user commented: “It’s a shame his punishment was so short! Glad he’s dead but it could have been longer and more painful!! Evil doesn’t begin to cover it.”
Another wrote: “Another one bites the dust, just did a job that the Americans would have done anyway without having to fork out the dollars.”
