It is hard to imagine how it’s like to lose all your belongings in a fire.
Thousands of people in Australia are experiencing that as apocalyptic bushfires continue to destroy acres of land.
One man who recently lost his family home in devastating blazes in New South Wales just won the lottery.
After purchasing a ticket online for the Gold Lotto with the special numbers of his wife, he walked away with a Division One prize of AUD $1 million!
Channel 9 reported that the man said of his win: “This is amazing. My family just lost their home in the bushfires in northern NSW and it wasn’t insured. This is a miracle.”
As he was the only won who hit the right numbers, 9, 42, 24, 13, 22, 11, and supplementary numbers 1 and 26, he won the whole Division One prize.
This may not be enough to rebuild his family home but it is a big help!
Unfortunately, the circumstances for other people are not so positive as the blazes continue to rage.
The South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS), the army and the police have evacuated people as fires are anticipated to spike.
“This is a pre-emptive relocation due to the increased fire risk,” the CFS said.
“Currently, there is no immediate threat to life or property but with increasing wind, warmer weather and going fires on Kangaroo Island, this situation is likely to change.”
Some were only given only five minutes to collect their belongings and evacuate to a safe area. The CFS warned that there is a fire burning uncontrollably and in a direction that will threaten people’s lives.
“Bushfire Advice Message : Issued for #PLAYFORD_HWY/WEST_END_HWY_,_RAVINE #fire. If you are in this area stay alert, monitor local conditions and decide what will you do if the situation changes,” the CFS wrote on Twitter.
