A 74-year-old man lost his life at a bull-running festival in Spain after a 1,150-pound bull attacked him.
Juan José Varo was watching the traditional Toro Embolao event in Vejer, in Cadiz when the bull attacked him.
He tried to climb up a wall to safety but fell into the path of the bull. The bull attacked him three times and left him fatally wounded.
He was rushed to the hospital but he couldn’t survive as the attack left him with a punctured lung and several broken ribs and vertebrae.
A spokesman for the local council said that the man who died used to watch the bull run from behind the barriers.
The video was posted online and Internet users slammed the festival. One wrote: ‘Here’s an idea. Leave the bull in the pasture where it belongs.’
Another said: ‘We like to playing with nature, and sometimes something happens’ while the third one commented: ‘I feel sorry for no one who goes to an event where they torture defenseless innocent Bulls who’ve done nothing to deserve it. When will they stop this barbaric practice? How many people have to die?’
It’s true that bulls don’t deserve to be treated like this but the poor man was just there to watch the bull-running festival. May his soul rest in peace!
