A man who always helps other people to get through difficult situations just lost three members of his family within a week.
Two of them are from coronavirus.
Toson Knight from Detroit said getting through the past few weeks required him to use every ounce of his energy.
“It’s been really tough,” he expressed. “It’s an experience I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.”
In just days, he lost three family members. His uncle passed away from natural causes, his mother Angela Knight and aunt died from coronavirus.
“We buried my aunt on Friday, I think my mom died that Monday, it was rough for sure,” he expressed.
People in his community know him for helping the youth. He even started ‘Caught Up,’ a mentorship program that molds, inspires, and empowers young men to be productive members of society.
“I always felt like I had control over my emotions, and able to stay strong. When you lose your mom, it’s a different type of feeling, you know,” Knight said.
A GoFundMe page was set up to support his family funeral expenses and it has so far raised over $4,500.
The page reads: “Toson Antwan Knight is a role model, youth leader, and city official in the City of Detroit who has tirelessly dedicated all of his efforts to uplifting and creating mentoring programs for at-risk inner city youth.
“Over the last 14-20 days, this wonderful and vibrant leader lost his Mother, Uncle and Aunt due to COVID-19 Pandemic.
“To someone who always is putting others before himself and who inspires and motivates those of us who have known him from Oakwood University or anywhere else in the world, please give anything you can to help him and his family during this most difficult time.”
