A 34-year-old cashier has been arrested for memorizing the card details of 1,300 customers and using their information to buy items online.

Yusuke Taniguchi, 34, had a photographic memory and would simply look at the card information – name, 16-digit number, security code, and expiry date – of more than 1,300 customers in the short time it took to scan the items at the till.

He was working at a hypermarket in Koto ward when the incidents occurred. According to reports, he would use the details he had obtained from customers to make purchases online.

In March this year, he bought two shoulder bags worth 270,000 yen and had sent the items to his apartment.

Unfortunately for him, he did not realize police were already investigating his purchase and eventually arrested him.

Taniguchi told police he sold the items he had purchased and used the money he made for paying rent and other expenses.

After he got arrested, police found a notebook containing hundreds of numbers and names of victims. They are now looking into the case to know the real extend of his crimes.

Another man from Spain allegedly scammed Amazon out of $370,000 by sending back boxes filled with nothing but dirt.

He was arrested in a scam that saw him filling up boxes with the exact product weight in dirt before sending them back to amazon.

The man and his accomplice would receive a refund from Amazon and sell the original item.

This would take the company some time to realize it had been scammed as the returned packages would sit in warehouses where boxes are weighed, scanned and placed on a shelf.

The scam was discovered when an employee opened up a box and found it was only dirt.
