A man on the New York City subway attacked a woman, knocked her to the ground, and broke her spine after he saw another female passenger kissed her on the cheek.
Authorities released the video of the homophobic strap-hanger confronting the 20-year-old woman which occurred on November 30 at around 5 pm.
Police said that the man became furious after seeing another female passenger kissing the victim on the cheek.
The suspect called the victim a d**e but as the woman tried to walk away from the scene, the man followed her off the train.
He then punched the woman in the back of her head and threw her on the ground. The victim hit her head on the train floor.
As soon as the train stopped at Forest Hills 71 Av station, the suspect ran off, leaving the victim with a fractured spine. She was immediately taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
The man is described as 5’ 11 and weighed 200 pounds and seemed to be between 50 and 60 years old. In the video released by police, he is wearing a black beanie, a camouflage vest, and glasses.
One internet user commented: “My friend had a fall and broke her spine. She’s suffered intractable debilitating pain since. She was paralzed for a while. Still is in one leg. Has other issues relating to the ladies room. Unless there have been huge strides in helping these breaks. This girl may suffer, horribly, the rest of her life. All for absolutely no reason.”
Another wrote: “Anyone who taunts and hurts a gay person clearly struggles with their own sexuality. If you are secure with yourself you were secure with others, period. This piece of trash deserves a long jail sentence-and throw away the key.”
