A man in his 30s was caught on camera punching an elderly woman and causing her to fall as she walked past him on the streets of New York.
The incident occurred in Gramercy Park, Manhattan, where a 92-year-old lady identified as Geraldine was slowly walking down the street when a man approached her and extended his arm to punch her in the head.
As the woman tumbled over and hit her head in the nearby fire hydrant, the man turned around to see what’s happening before fleeing the scene.
After the incident, the police have released the footage showing the attack whereas reports confirmed that Geraldine had been rushed to the hospital where she’s expecting to recover fully.
Soon after the surveillance footage went viral, the suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Rashid Brimmage from the Bronx who has a long list of offenses including assault, harassment, and random attacks.
As NBC New York reported, Geraldine confirmed she felt “happy” when she found out that the guy got arrested and she hopes he can change himself for the better.
According to News 4 Brimmage, a senior police official informed them that Brimmage had been arrested some one hundred times whereas he usually got off with a desk appearance ticket.
Among other recent incidents, the man had been arrested for punching another 29-year-old person in the face in an unprovoked attack at a pizza shop.
Just weeks before that, he also attacked a 39-year-old woman at a Dunkin’ Donuts store in the Bronx.
As the police fear, Rashid could go on carrying out more crimes if he is slammed with another desk appearance ticket.
