When Louisiana received one of the worst heavy rain and flooding this year, countless financial damages and deaths left everyone devastated.
The Baton Rouge area was one of the places that was hit especially hard, and the residents had to leave everything and escape when the disaster struck.
And when you try to gather everything before it’s too late, it is easy to lose things on the way. As one of the residents of the Baton Rouge was quickly getting ready to leave his place, he also lost something important – his dog. When he was putting everything in his truck, his dog, Sadie, freaked out and ran away.

In the mean time, a resident from the area, Josh Pettit, was patrolling the streets in his boat to rescue people and offer any other help.
On August 14, as Pettit was navigating the water where neighborhoods once stood, he spotted something in the bushes. When Pettit got close to the shaking bush, he noticed that it was a dog desperately trying to stay above water.
As Pettit writes on Facebook, “Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw a bush shaking! This is all I saw! Eyes and nose barely above water. She could barely tread water anymore. She was so worn out and had the saddest eyes I ever seen, so scared for her life!”
So, Pettit quickly pulled her out of the water, and that’s when the dog started to cry and moan like a baby.point 251 |
“We saved her and she came, laid her head on my lap.point 47 | . She was thanking me.point 65 | I thank God for letting me notice her,” Pettit said.point 114 | Indeed, it’s actually amazing how this dog was able to survive, when she was almost completely submerged under 8 feet of water.point 226 |

As you could probably tell, this dog was Sadie. In another post on Facebook, Pettit said that he was able to find the dog’s owner. When Sadie was reunited with her owner, she was “as happy as she can be!”
