You work so hard to pay all your bills and you save what you can for big expenses like buying a home or going on your vacation with your family.

You pinch pennies, but it never feels like it amounts to what you need. Unless your name is Otha Anders.

Otha saved his pennies for 45 years. Every penny he acquired, whether he earned it or found it, he squirreled away. He became a pro at saving his money.

And the pennies started to add up.

Otha decided to start collecting pennies in the 1970’s when he found one heads-up, a common occurrence for many of us. Many people will remember the old saying, “See a penny pick it up, and all day long you’ll have good luck.”

Otha saw this penny as more than good luck, but a sign from God.

“I became convinced that spotting a lost or dropped penny was an additional God-given incentive reminding me to always be thankful,” he said in an interview with Fox News.

“There have been days where I failed to pray and more often than not, a lost or dropped penny would show up to remind me.”

Otha is in his 70’s now, and he’s got fifteen large water jugs filled with his loose change. Recently, he decided to cash all of it in.

Him and his friends rolled the jugs of pennies into a bank in Ruston, Louisiana. They didn’t know just how much money Otha was able to collect over all of those years.

Bank staff, including the bank Vice President Jennie Cole, were impressed with Otha’s savings. Jennie will not soon forget the customer that wheeled 15 jugs of pennies into her bank.

Altogether, Otha saved $5,136.14.

All his saving will certainly lead to an amazing treat, or several, for Otha and his family. His presents from God have gifted him with a good chunk of change in his bank account.
