Swallowing foreign objects by mistake has been a part of human nature for as long as we can remember, and one guy just proved that one can swallow literally anything that fits in their mouth!

A man referred to simply as Mr. Hsu by local media has recorded a video of him searching through his own excrement in order to find his missing AirPod.

As Hsu suggested, he must have swallowed one of his earphones while he was sleeping. When the man woke up, he was surprised to see that one AirPod was missing.

Following the long search that bore no results, the Taiwan-based man resorted to ‘Find My Airpods’ feature in order to locate his earphones. The app, however, showed that the missing AirPod was at the same location as he was.

“The map showed that my AirPod was at home, and I could hear the ‘beep, beep’ sound, which seemed to follow me around the room,” Hsu said in an interview with Asia Wire.

“But I checked under my blanket and looked around but couldn’t find it – then I realized the sound was coming from my stomach!”

After realizing what had happened, the unfortunate music lover paid a visit to Kaohsiung Municipal United Hospital only for doctors to confirm his fears.

Hsu was then given a laxative and ordered to keep track of and inspect his excrements. As the doctors added, he would require surgery if the AirPod didn’t make it out on its own in time.

Fortunately, the call of nature the following day resulted in Hsu removing the foreign object from his body. Not only was the man relieved to know that he wouldn’t need surgery but also to find out that the AirPod was still fully functioning.

“The battery was still at 41 percent! It was incredible,” Hsu added, happy by the fact that he won’t have to buy a new AirPod.

Explaining why the electronic device didn’t cause any problems in Hsu’s body, Doctor Chen Chieh-fan of the Kaohsiung Municipal United Hospital ER said:

“Because of the plastic shell around the AirPod, the risk of it causing him harm in a similar way to swallowing a regular lithium-ion battery is much lower.”
