Over the years, people have come up with various unique ways to take memorable selfies, and as one drunk Aussie proved, there’s no limit to what one can do for a moment of glory.
It was 2 am on a Sunday morning when a 23-year-old Australian man was seen chasing and grabbing a seagull on the streets of Manly, Sydney. The man’s attempt at starting a new selfie trend, however, has gotten him a run-in with the police who weren’t thrilled by his actions.
According to the police, the young man was shouting “I got one” before they managed to get to him. As the Northern Beaches officers added, dozens of women began screaming as the man was waving around with the seagull in his left hand.
After ordering the man to put the distressed bird on the ground slowly, the 23-year-old complied. The seagull then flew away uninjured and unwilling to press charges.
As for the police, they stayed and had a talk with the man with “bloodshot eyes” in order to get to the bottom of the incident.
According to the officers, the man had troubles keeping his balance and admitted drinking a tad too much while he was watching the Sydney Surf Pro.
He has issued a warning and was told to move on and not come back for at least six hours.
While this incident sure sounds special, this isn’t the first case involving a bizarre interaction between a human and a seagull. Sydney’s tourist hotspots are full of birds that are on the hunt for free food.
Recently, one man was apprehended for kicking a seagull while another one was robbed of his GoPro camera by the animal.
