Justin Klein was partying with his friends at his home in Wilmington, North Carolina when he told them he could shatter a wine glass by singing.
Klein has been a part of multiple bands over the years where he performed as a singer. He bet he could shatter a wine glass by singing as he had seen a similar stunt on the TV show MythBusters.
Using the same technique, Klein managed to shatter a wine glass, leaving everyone amazed.
Klein, who has a master’s degree in Geospatial Information Science and Technologies, said: “I told everyone in the room that MythBusters said it was possible and bet I could do it. Everyone was sceptical, but then it happened.”
“I have been a singer in multiple bands over the years. My understanding was you just need to match the note the glass makes when you flick it long enough.”
“I feel like a new man after knowing I can shatter a glass with my voice. I have an insatiable appetite for breaking glasses with my voice now, hide yo wine glasses ladies!”
The shocking video footage that shows Klein shattering the wine glass by singing was posted online and went viral instantly.
People were left shocked and the video received thousands of likes and comments.
Fragile glasses can be shattered with just the sound and this has been proved by many scientists.
However, it is not always possible. Jeffrey Kysar, a mechanical engineer at Columbia University, told Scientific America: “It’s possible, but you have to be both good and lucky.”
“Even if you could excite the cup, that doesn’t guarantee it would break. Fracture depends on the size of the initial defects.”
