A 20-year-old clubber had a large Uber bill waiting for him when he woke up a hundred miles away from home.
Joseph Fergie had been out with his friends at the ATIK nightclub and called for an Uber to go back home in Leith. The journey should take only less than 15 minutes but he fell asleep inside the car after a few drinks.
The driver then woke him up at around 8:30 am to tell him they had arrived at his destination.
Speaking about his unforgettable experience, Fergie told Daily Record: “I woke up still drunk and when I saw sheep kicking about the countryside – I thought the guy had taken me to Musselburgh.”
After realizing where he was, he used Snapchat to tell his friends what happened and said it was the ‘strangest day of his life.’
“I ended up telling all my pals about the situation and they just burst out laughing. They couldn’t believe what happened,” he expressed.
Fergie then frantically searched the right way to get back home but his phone was already running out of battery.
He had to ride several trains and buses and ended up back in Edinburgh at around 3:30 pm.
“I’m still trying to piece together what exactly happened last night and I am chatting with Uber to see if they can help in any way,” he said.
“I’ve had never heard of Kirkcudbright before last night and I doubt I’ll be able to ever forget it now.”
One internet user commented: “Why did the Uber driver take him there in the first place. Did he not give them his address.”
Another said: “He will do it all over again next weekend haha”
A third wrote: “When you use the Uber app, you have to put in your pick up and drop off point. So god knows what happened here. Im thinking it was all planned.”
