A 43-year-old man survived a bow and arrow attack, thanks to his mobile phone.
According to police, he came under attack by another man.
The incident started when the attacker confronted the 43-year-old victim outside his house. He was armed with a bow and arrow.
The arrow was then fired after the man raised his phone to take a photo of the confrontation.
Fortunately, doing so allowed him to survive an attack as his device instantly became a shield from a hurtling arrow.
According to police, the arrow pierced the man’s phone and knocked it back into his face. Because his device already received and stopped the impact, he only suffered a small cut.
The 39-year-old armed man was later arrested at the scene. The incident occurred in the New South Wales town of Nimbin, about 110 miles south of Brisbane.
Police said the two were known to each other but did not provide any other details. The attacker was charged with property damage and assault offenses and will face a court in April.
Nimbin has long been known as the marijuana capital of Australia. The town holds a MardiGrass festival yearly which celebrates marijuana’s use for recreational, industrial, medicinal and spiritual purposes.
However, police have had a heightened presence in Nimbin and cracked down sellers of marijuana as well as other drugs.
In 2018, Michael Balderstone, the president of Hemp Embassy in Nimbin, revealed he had tested positive for cannabis during a random drug test.
He told the Echo Netdaily website: “I’ve been smoking pot for nearly 50 years and I’m totally used to it like the millions of people who take their pharma pills every day are used to them.
“I’d possibly be more dangerous without my daily medication.”
