A carpenter has spoken out about his ordeal involving a rude and demanding teenager who demanded that the hardworking man makes him a custom-made table in less than two weeks.
As workshop owner Abs Delfuego explained, he has to deal with entitled customers and unreasonable demands “every second day.”
“I’m an engineer by trade but I own a small workshop, building custom arcade machines and stuff, especially for the disabled,” Abs explained in an interview with Bored Panda.
“Mark is the general manager of a company that contracts me to build stuff for the disabled community. They rebrand them and sell them.”
One of his recent issues with customers was particularly disturbing as Delfuego found himself confronted by a 19-year-old guy who utilized everything from abuse of power to insults in an attempt to get things done his way.
“Hi there, I was wondering what the turnaround time for a custom desk is. I need the height to be 700mm. Width enough to fit triple 24” monitors side by side. I’d like a keyboard sized area at the front slanted forward for ease of typing/gaming,” the teen wrote in his first message to Abs.
“Hiya, I have a template for that exact design. Around 2 weeks before we can start it currently,” Delfuego replied.
“Oh, can you do it sooner by any chance? I was referred by Mark,” the 19-year-old added.
“I’m sorry 2 weeks from now is the best I can do at the moment. We’re quite busy as Mark stopped importing and relies on us now,” the carpenter responded.
“Thank you. I’ll inform him that you weren’t helpful at all and they’ll pull the contract. How long now?” the teen persisted.
Here’s how their conversation continued:
After the incident, Mark reached out to Abs and asked him about what had happened.
Thinking this was the end of it all, the rude teen texted the carpenter and attempted to get his way once again.
