A man has been charged with assault and criminal damage after throwing milkshake at Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage.
The Brexit Party leader’s attire was left pelted in milkshake after the incident and he was immediately taken away from the scene.
32-year-old Paul Crowther from Throckley, Newcastle, had been charged with criminal damage and common assault. He is scheduled to appear before magistrates on June 18, according to police.
A force spokesperson described the incident, saying: “At around 1pm, a 55-year-old man had a milkshake thrown at him in the city centre.
“A 32-year-old man was detained at the scene and arrested by police.
“He has now been charged with common assault and criminal damage.”
Officers discovered an empty Five Guys banana and salted caramel milkshake cup on the floor after the incident.
The Brexit Party leader vowed to press charges against the attacker after saying ‘radicalized Remainers’ had made campaigning difficult.
Nigel Farage vented anger at his security and opponents after he was covered with milkshake during his European election tour.
He was heard shouting “How did you not stop that?” as he walked away with security.
Mr. Fatage took to Twitter afterwards and wrote: “Sadly some remainers have become radicalized, to the extent that normal campaigning is becoming impossible.
“For a civilized democracy to work you need the losers consent, politicians not accepting the referendum result have led us to this.”
He said to local media that the milkshake was ‘yobbo flavored’ and he filed a statement to Police.
Brendan Cox said it normalized ‘violence and intimidation’ while Tony Blair said the attack was ‘horrible and ridiculous.’
Brexit minister James Cleverly insisted that people should debate instead of ‘assault political opponents.’
