A man traveled 4,000 miles just to meet a woman who called him ‘cute’ on a Facebook page.
It all started when 28-year-old Adam Lawrence shared his photo with his friend’s pet cat, Doggy, to a Facebook page for cat lovers.
The photo gained more than 6,500 likes and about 150 comments, among which, one was really special.
Stranger Anna Hosey, 25, from America, thought that the cat and the person holding it were both looking cute, and she just dared to say it.
After this brief interaction, Adam, who has a bachelors in graphic designing from London, started chatting with his admirer almost every day.
Following several rounds of discussions with her, Adam decided to just go for a meetup – which was indeed a bold decision as that meant a tour to Chicago from the UK.
“I never thought I’d be the kin of guy to travel 4,000 miles to meet someone I met on Facebook, but I don’t regret it at all,” said Adam, after he came back home on December 15.
The animal-lover explained how he posted his photo with his friend’s cat on the Facebook page.
“It was the first time I ever posted in the group but I have always loved cats and when I saw my friend’s fluffy cat I couldn’t resist,” he said.
“Anna commented, saying, ‘Both very very cute,’ and after viewing her profile, I thought, ‘I’ll just send her a message.’ We went on to speak every day on Facebook and we really got on.”
After just two weeks, the 25-year-old asked him to meet her in person in the United States.
Adam said: “I don’t think she believed I would, so I did as I thought, ‘What have I got to lose?’ I thought, ‘If it goes wrong, at least I am ticking another country off the list.’
“Thankfully had the best time and it was like we had known each other forever. I can’t wait to show Anna all the sights that make London, London.”
The two had an amazing time and Anna even got her seats reserved for a tour to London in February.
Describing her experience, the hairdresser said she wasn’t expecting Adam to come.
“But then he showed me the itinerary, I was like, ‘Oh, it’s happening,’ and then every phone call was so exciting because we were counting down the days,” she said.
“I was a little bit wary but I was willing to take the small risk and I am so glad I did because we had the best time.
“The whole thing has been surreal but amazing – it wasn’t awkward at all when I picked him up from the airport.”
She added: “I felt nervous on the way but as soon as he got in the car they disappeared; it is crazy how we are so in tune with each other.
“We both love cats, music and an adventure!”
“He met my friends, parents and most importantly my cat, Kidden and they all loved him,” Anna said. “My friends were shocked that I have found someone who is as talkative and spontaneous like me.
“I don’t believe it will fizzle out because it has already been two months, and we have never not had anything to say.”
