A man has traveled the world in order to start living together with the woman he met over the internet amid the pandemic.
33-year-old Andrew Monck from Sydney, Australia, flew to Paignton, England, to move in with 32-year-old Rosanna Wilson whom he has been dating for four months.
While the couple first saw each other at a Wales party back in 2011, their thoughts weren’t directed at each other until the summer of 2020 after they both broke up with their respective partners.
After Wilson started a YouTube channel known as ‘The 30-Something Singleton’, she was approached by Andrew and the two instantly kicked things off where they left them almost a decade ago.
“I hadn’t seen him in 10 years and I went ‘oh, you’ve changed.’ I was flirting with him – I’m not going to lie,” Rosanna admitted. “Ever since then he knew that I liked him and he started flirting back. The interview was in the bin.”
Following months of fruitful dating, Andrew requested exemption to leave his native Australia to permanently live in the UK together with his partner.
After traveling 10,000 miles across the ocean, the 33-year-old was finally able to see Rosanna in person and give her a big hug.
“It was pretty surreal when we met face to face. It had all been done online and so to see her in person and hold her was amazing. It’s really, really easy now we’re together,” Andrew said.
“There’s no awkwardness or anything like that. It’s been a long few days – but worth every minute.”
As Rosanna added, she was a bit surprised by how tall her partner was after seeing him in person for the first time. Nothing, however, could make her doubt her love for the man.
“Australia was his home and he was traveling through a global pandemic to the UK,” the 32-year-old said.
“When I first met Andrew at the airport he was a lot taller than I realized. But it’s like he’s been here forever.”
