If you felt that life became a little bit lacking ever since Season 1 of The Mandalorian ended, that’s probably because you just couldn’t get enough of Baby Yoda, arguably the most popular character of the season.
The coronavirus lockdown has put a freeze on a lot of projects and fans may be feeling disappointed that this might affect when Season 2 will eventually come out.
But Disney+ has managed to pull a rabbit out of the hat, so to speak, by announcing the debut of an eight-episode docuseries of The Mandalorian on May 4th, popularly known as “Star Wars Day,” and the day just suddenly seemed brighter for Star Wars fans.
The series is titled Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian and will be hosted by Jon Favreau himself, the executive producer and creator of The Mandalorian. Featuring behind-the-scenes looks of the series as it was being made, each episode will tackle a “different facet” of the show, announced Lucasfilm.
“Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian is an opportunity for fans of the show to take a look inside and get to see a different perspective, and perhaps a greater understanding, of how The Mandalorian came together and some of the incredibly talented contributors throughout season one,” Favreau said in a statement Wednesday. “We had a great experience making the show and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you.”
After its debut on May 4, subsequent episodes will be coming out every Friday up to the end of June.
Disney+ released the first season of The Mandalorian between November and December and was well-received by critics. But it was “Baby Yoda” who ultimately stole the show and launched numerous popular memes featuring the beloved character.
Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, Werner Herzog, Nick Nolte, Emily Swallow, and Omid Abtahi all star in the show.
When the first season released its finale in December, the 53-year-old Favreau went on Twitter to confirm that the second season will be dropping in Fall 2020. So far, there have been no indications that this timeline has been affected by the disruptions caused by the coronavirus lockdowns.
