Mark Jenkins is an American artist he clicks sculptures of mannequins and seems like they are real. He makes sure that his pictures stand out as social critique and the viewer gets confused after seeing the picture if they are real or sculptured.
In his monograph The Urban Theatre he has compiled all his realistic Mannequins and they have received a lot of positive response from the general public.
Jerkins started his mannequin work in 2003.
In his first picture, he placed a figure in the refuse dump in order to show the lives of homeless children.
He captured this picture in Rio de Janeiro his purpose was to show the pain and suffering of children living without any home.Most of his work is funded by the public and he has worked in numerous places such as Kunsthalle Galleries Lazarides Wien and all over the world.
Jerkins work is mainly made for streets however he has made epics in indoors and in the company of nature.
He explained his point of view in an interview that his ongoing work is based on the objects that are dark he also focuses on the places and individuals that are a neglected part of our society and sidelined.
As in one of his pictures, a man is standing in a river while holding a bunch of balloons those balloons become his ray of hope and in this way, he stands out in the darkness.
In this way, Jerkins show a ray of hope in his pictures.According to Jerkins, he wants the people to be aware of what is happening around them; they must have an idea or real and fake.
At first, he tried to make people look up from their phones but now he focuses on capturing mesmerizing moments.
