Manny Pacquiao knows exactly what it is like to live a difficult life.
Poverty was never easy, and he grew up facing many obstacles.
“Many of you know me as a legendary boxer, and I’m proud of that,” Pacquiao said during a promotional appearance for Anta Sports, a Chinese sportswear company.
“However, that journey was not always easy. When I was younger, I became a fighter because I had to survive. I had nothing. I had no one to depend on except myself. I realized that boxing was something I was good at, and I trained hard so that I could keep myself and my family alive.”
Pacquiao from Sarangani Province in the Philippines had to drop out of school when he was only 10. His family was so poor that there were days when food was not available and what they only had was water.
When he was 15, he would sleep on the streets after looking for food, according to USA Today.
And after finally reaching his dreams, Pacquiao doesn’t want others to experience what he had to go through.
He quietly built more than 1,000 homes for the less fortunate!
The famous boxer purchased lots in the Sarangani Province and built houses for the poor.
“In boxing the fight is in the ring is for the enjoyment of the fans,” Pacquiao said. “In the Senate, the fight is for improving the quality of life of the Philippine citizens. Being a senator is inspiring work. I have spent more than 100 million pesos (more than $2 million) on building houses for the less fortunate.”
According to China Daily, Pacquiao said a few years ago: “As I went around my country, I realized there were so many people who need help, who look up to me for inspiration.point 247 |

“As I share my story, I can only hope that I help you discover that gift, so that you can become that person who will soon inspire others to win their own battles.”
