A community of nuns in Merced County, California, Sisters of The Valley, are behind the very successful operation flogging cannabis-based health items.

Their success becomes the subject of a new documentary directed by a British filmmaker. The movie titled ‘Breaking Habits’ was released on April 20 – weed users’ holiday.

60-year-old Sister Kate Meeusen gave up her life as a corporate executive and turned to marijuana-farming in 2011 after starting the Sisters Of The Valley.

Starting with only 12 plants, their business grew into an international operation. Her products have a 100 percent success rate at healing customers’ dangerous addictions even though she admitted she has a small sample size.

“We worked with eight people who were addicted to either alcohol, tobacco or meth, but they all got better,” Sister Kate said. “That’s a better success rate than Alcoholics Anonymous.”

The sisters also use CBD, an active ingredient from cannabis, to treat people suffering different types of health conditions, ranging from epilepsy to cancer.

“It’s a wonderfully healing plant,” Sister Kate added. “Gradually the world is starting to open up to the idea of cannabis as medicine, rather than treating it as a dangerous drug.”

Breaking Habits director Rob Ryan said that Sister Kate’s aim to change the cannabis industry from ‘stoner to healer’ is heartfelt and genuine.

“It’s a story about a woman taking on the local establishment to change the law on cannabis in the healing sense,” he said.

Sister Kate added: “We intend to have enclaves in every town and province in the next 20 years. We’re going to be doing more and more with Hollywood, because that’s the megaphone to the world.

“We’re also planning an edgy, political series, done in cartoon form.”

But Sister Kate now says she doesn’t like the movie anymore. “I’ve seen the film so many times I’m sick of it, I didn’t like it but everyone else likes it so I’m happy about that.”
