Nintendo is set to release Mario Kart, one of its most popular games, on mobile phones.
The new version of the Mario Kart games will be released next month, the Japanese entertainment company announced.
Nintendo originally mentioned the game was going to be released before the end of March but have since delayed it until this summer.
It is thought the game will challenge many of the most popular smartphone games played by millions of people around the world, such as Candy Crush.
Mario Kart Tour, as the mobile version of the game will be called on iOS and Android, is thought to include the popular in-game tournament, the Luigi Raceway, and Mushroom Cup.
It is thought to also have Kalimari Desert, the Choco Mountain, Koopa Troopa Beach, and Yoshi Valley.
“The checkered flag has been raised, and the finish line is near,” Nintendo said in a statement in 2018.“A new mobile application is now in development: Mario Kart Tour!”
The first Super Mario Kart was released in 1992 on the SNES systems and it was in 1996 when the company launched a revamped version of Mario Kart for N64.
The version was called Super Mario Kart 64 and was the second-best selling game of that year with over 10 million copies sold, surpassed by Super Mario 64.
The website for the Mario Kart Tour for smartphones does not offer many hints about the racing abilities of different characters. However, it suggests the game will have in-app purchases that won’t be available during the beta test.
For those who want to be among the very first ones outside of Nintendo to see what the racer has to offer, you can register on Nintendo’s website. Registration needs a free Nintendo account and will be open until May 7.
