Yes, the Vatican has never given out such an order before but now he has ordered that married men can be priests in the remote regions of Amazon.
A document was released recommending older married men for a synod that is going to take place in the month of October for the bishops of Amazon.
The document that was released was not restricted for the priests but also had a mention of an official ministry for the women. But there was no elaboration on the same.
The document that was released was the first of its kind. In history, there has never been such a clear recommendation for a married man to be a priest. Even in the part of women of Amazon, no such recommendation with clarity has been issued before.
While the fire ignites for the change in Amazon, priests and clergymen in the other parts of the world are also looking forward to the same change to come in their region too.
According to the document that stated the possibility of the capable men has come along because of the shortage of priests. Another perspective is that such men would be elderly, respected, leaders of their Catholic community and with grown-up kids and families.
The document also said that even though such men are married and have an already established family they will be capable of managing the Christian life and church.
There are Catholic scholars that believe and has spoken out that this document is a passage that will give way to other regions as well if they run short of priests.
