Land plates shift and can tear up the land and cause major loss of life and possessions.
There have been major earthquakes in the past that has disturbed entire cities in once and the same happened in Australia’s north coast recently.
A major earthquake has struck Darwin on the north coast of Australia. An earthquake of 7.2 magnitudes hit the remote region in Indonesia falling in the Banda Sea this Monday.
According to the reports by the locals of the region, the shake went on for about 2 minutes which is a long time for an earthquake and the shake was enough to scare the residents of the region.
One person posted “I was really scared. My house was all shaky and it feels like it is still shaking in Palmerston. The back wall of my house now has this new massive crack. Thanks to the massive earthquake.”
Another wrote “We had been taught in school to run out of the building when we feel a shake in the land and that is what I did. I quickly ran out saving my life. Thank god the house is still standing.”
Some buildings and schools especially were evacuated the moment the earthquake hit the region for the safety purpose. There have been no reported injuries.
Bureau of Meteorology says that there are no seeming chances of a tsunami so the locals can relax and be safe in their homes.
Domenic Fracaro said that he was in his apartment when he felt the shake. He was preparing lunch and thought it must be a jet that was flying way too low.
The next moment he saw his wife running out the door and he followed. They ran down the fire escape and then out of the building.
