We often hear the news of a tree that fell off from its place right in the middle of the road due to their root rot issues but is unusual to witness giant scaffolding collapsing.
Recently, in Hampstead, London scaffolding fell off at 2:50 pm from Royal Free Hospital.
The world’s largest city witnessed the strong winds of 55 miles per hour in the afternoon on the day that scaffolding took a blow.
According to testimony given by the eyewitnesses, it all began with bricks taking a fall and then scaffolding took a plunge some moments later. No injuries were reported at the scene is what a spokesman from Metropolitan Police said.
A Royal Free Hospital spokesperson informed that the hospital, for now, is on standby at a place that is opposite to the principal building.
He also said that since the collapse they had not attended even one single patient who had complaints of injury because of the scaffolding incident.
The hospital at the moment is struggling with the transportation issue and keeping up with appointments timing has affected because patients visiting are taking longer than usual to arrive.
Ms. Hilary Barnes who saw the falling of scaffolding from a distance described the incident to be extraordinary. She was glad that she luckily stopped at M & S and didn’t reach to Hampstead where she was initially headed.
The London Fire Brigade crew members reached the spot as they were called at 2:48 pm. The fire brigade was informed that there had been a scaffolding collapse in the Pond Street. The crew reached at the spot with three rescue units and with two fire engines.
The Royal Free Hospital has requested the visiting patients to bear the extra time for coming to the standby building.
