Sharing a photo of the sick ‘pop vinyl’ gift on social media, the twisted hater said: “Blame it on Netflix.”
The troll continued: “They gained millions from the Find Maddie Fund, they paid their mortgage with it.”
Pop vinyl bobble dolls usually portray favorite characters from cartoons and films like the incredible Hulk and Betty Boop.
However, in a horrible way to portray missing Maddie, the box featured a widely-circulated photo of her and came out without the figurine.
One family friend of the McCann’s said that they have ‘had a lot worse’ but insisted that the pop vinyl doll without a toy in the box is offensive.
“This is offensive, rude and unpleasant. Kate and Gerry think people like this are just idiots but they have had a lot worse,” the friend said, and added the family were determined “not to let the hate brigade get under their skins.”
“This is the problem with social media, there is no control. Kate and Gerry have had to put up with all this abusive nonsense for nearly 12 years.”
The photo has been liked over 12,000 times with hundreds of comments. One netizen said: “I would buy this for you.”
Another shameless netizen wrote: “THERE SHE IS.”
A third said: “They have gained millions from the find Maddie fund they paid off their mortgage with it.”
One kindhearted user commented it wasn’t funny, saying: “This is not funny. A little innocent girl actually went missing and everyone is making jokes about it.
“Imagine a friend or family member went missing and people were joking about it like this.”
The case of Madeleine’s whereabouts is currently being reexamined in a new Netflix documentary series ‘The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann.’
