I don’t know about you, but McDonald’s nearby my house rarely gives out free fries.
Yet, this happened in one of the McDonald’s in Massachusetts.
Guess why?
On August 29th, the Needham McDonald’s was filled with people for a party. It wasn’t just any party, though. It was a retirement party to honor a beloved employee who worked at the store for 32 years – Freia David.

Everyone knows that working at a place for more than three decades deserves a huge recognition.
But what makes David’s story so special is the fact that she has Down’s syndrome.
With the help from the Charles River Center, which works with the local companies to provide employment opportunities for those with cognitive disabilities, David was able to get a job at the McDonald’s nearby her home.

Since 1984, David has been working the fryer station at her local McDonald’s every day from 11am to 2pm. David was always so excited to work, greeting her fellow employees and customers with hugs and smiles. So, it’s natural that many people wanted to celebrate her retirement.
In order to congratulate David on her achievements as a star employee, not only did the management hang up a banner in front to invite people, but the staff also gave out free fries to the public in the honor of David’s retirement.
Plus, she received a certificate in recognition of her achievements from the owner-operator of the Needham McDonald’s, Timothy McCoy.
“We are so sad that she is retiring. The McDonald’s of Needham will never be the same without Friea David,” said McCoy.
Although David now plans on enjoying her free time with her friends, she will always be remembered as an integral part of the Needham McDonald’s.
It really should feel great to be recognized by everyone at your retirement party.
