Police officers and patriots have lashed out at a McDonald’s branch on South Washington Street in Kansas after an employee called an army veteran and a police officer a “f***ing pig” on his coffee cup.
The incident came to light after the officer in question saw the disgusting handwritten comment on top of the sticker on the premium roast beverage he ordered.
According to the Kansas police department, the Herington Police cop was offered nothing but a “free lunch” after complaining to the management about the inappropriate comment of one of the branch’s employees.
After the disrespectful treatment of the army vet, Herington Police Chief Brian Hornaday has spoken out and called out the McDonald’s in question.
“One of my Officers decided to grab a coffee at the McDonalds located at 1127 South Washington in Junction City this morning on his way to work,” he wrote in his Facebook post.
“This is what he paid for. Although I understand this is likely the act of one person and not a representation of the company, when it was brought to their attention the company offered him a ‘free lunch.’
“No thank you. A Big Mac and large fries doesn’t make up for it. The US Veteran who continues to serve deserves much more. This is not only bad for McDonald’s, but is also a black eye for Junction City. I apologize for the foul language, but covering it up would take away the full effect.”
As KWCH confirmed after the incident went viral, the police chief claimed that the anonymous police officer “has never met the McDonald’s employee” who called him a pig.
“He has spent the last two months serving the citizens of Herington, visiting patients at Herington Municipal Hospital during Christmas who couldn’t be home for the holidays, participating in a Christmas give away at Herington Elementary School and many other positive things geared towards providing a positive future for the City of Herington,” Chief Brian Hornaday allegedly said.
After the locals lashed out at the fast-food chain and demanded justice, McDonald’s branch owner spoke out and confirmed that the “allegation” is being investigated.
“McDonald’s is a strong supporter of our police, military and first responders. In fact, I have several family members who are law enforcement officers. We take any incident like this seriously and are currently investigating the allegation made,” Dana Cook said in a statement to DailyMail.
