World’s smallest McDonald’s restaurant – McHive is now open for bees in Sweden. The tiny restaurant is a hive handcrafted by a professional woodworker for bees.
The restaurant, which is too tiny for humans, has McDonald’s advertisements on the front windows, a tiny drive-thru, windows, and the iconic McDonald’s sign.
The McHive was the idea of Scandinavian ad agency Nord DDB to help save the honeybees that are in danger of going extinct.
NORD DDB said: “The initiative started out locally but is now growing. More franchisees around the country are joining the cause and have also started replacing the grass around their restaurants with flowers and plants that are important for the wellbeing of wild bees.”
Scandinavian ad agency Nord DDB also released a behind-the-scenes video of how they created this tiny restaurant.
Basically, McHive is a home for thousands of bees and is a replica of McDonald’s to help save the bees.
Christoffer Rönnblad, marketing director of McDonald’s Sweden, told Adweek:
“We have a lot of really devoted franchisees who contribute to our sustainability work, and it feels good that we can use our size to amplify such a great idea as beehives on the rooftops.”
We appreciate this tiny McDonald’s restaurant as it will help save the bees.
