We are aware of how plastic waste has become one of the major problems of the planet.

After climate change and scarcity of water, the next name to be on the list is for sure going to be plastic waste.

This is causing a major threat to marine life and the animals that are not aware of how dangerous plastic can be for them and still consume it. Also, the waste is polluting the water bodies, land, and forests as well.

While the world is aware of the problem, governments around the world, as well as major companies, are taking steps in order to reduce plastic waste.

There are several companies that have changed the way they pack their products in order to use less plastic. The same footsteps have been followed by McDonald’s now.

Yes, McDonalds UK has made a promise that they will not use plastic covers for McFlurry’s anymore.

They have also decided that the company will replace the one time use plastic with better options like cardboard container or recyclable plastic. They are also going to change the plastic container they used for salads and sides.

Director of Supply chain for McDonald’s outlets in UK and Ireland, Beth Hart said: “I am filled with joy after today’s news as we will be serving our beloved salads and sides in a better way in order to protect our beloved planet.”

According to McDonald’s, the new change is going to reduce plastic waste by 485 metric tons just in a year. 383 metric tons comes alone from McFlurry’s packaging.

In order to keep working on the motivation, the restaurant chain also removed plastic straws from almost all their outlets and now they are making another change.

The spokesperson from the company said that they will keep trying to serve better as well as cause no harm to the environment.
