Meerkats (Suricata Suricatta) are wild animals and they mostly live in the Kalahari or Namibian desert and other regions of Africa.
It is believed that the most unexpected place to find them is somewhere in the north where there’s winter and it’s cold, like Russia. This is the reason this meerkat called Surya is very special as she’s living in the loving home of Ekaterina Kuraeva in St. Petersburg.
Surya was adopted from the Moscow zoo.
She’s best friends with a Chartreux cat, Nice, who gives her a fantastic company.
6 years ago when Nice was 2-years-old at the time and Surya was only a little baby. They became friends and are inseparable ever since. Their Instagram profile is a testament to this relationship.
Surya has a needy and affectionate personality, and sometimes he gets jealous if Ekaterina gives too much attention to the cat. He jumps and cuts to get Nice away. Nice is much calmer and discrete, yet he’s very happy to oblige when Surya needs some TLC. Both play together and spend a good time.
Ekaterina Kuraeva, the 45-year-old owner of the two, keeps updating the Instagram profile daily, and now has over 36k followers, and it is growing every day.
The owner is very happy that they get along, as she admitted to Bored Panda, “it is fortunate that they have become friends and are so affectionate to each other.” We couldn’t agree more!
