Meghan Markle celebrated her 40th birthday with a huge announcement.
In a clip featuring Melissa McCarthy, the Duchess of Sussex announced a new initiative to help women back into work.
The Duchess encourages people around the world to dedicate 40 minutes of their time mentoring women going back to work.
In the video posted on the Archewell website, Meghan couldn’t stop giggling as the Hollywood star helped her launch her ‘40×40’ campaign.
Others who have promised to give 40 minutes of their time in their community are fashion designer Stella McCartney, singer Adele, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, the wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeu, and poet Amanda Gorman.
Meghan’s plan also received extra Royal support when Princess Eugenie vowed to take part for ‘dear Meghan’s 40th birthday.’
“To celebrate dear Meghan’s 40th birthday I’m contributing 40 minutes of mentorship to support women reentering the workforce,” Princess Eugenie wrote in an Instagram post.
During the Zoom-style call in her Los Angeles mansion, Meghan told Bridesmaid star: “Because I’m turning 40, I’m asking 40 friends to donate 40 minutes of their time to help mentor a woman who’s mobilising back into the workforce.
“Over two million women in the US alone and tens of millions around the world have lost their jobs due to Covid. And I think if we all do it and all commit 40 minutes to some sort of active service, we can create a ripple effect.”
The actress repeatedly interrupts the Duchess with jokes and at one point, she laughs when asked: “Are you finally going to do a Suits reunion?” to which she replies: “Why would I do a Suits reunion for my birthday?”
Melissa laughs hard at the end of the call when she notices Prince Harry juggling outside the window.
