Meghan and Harry reportedly made a secret deal that would see their interview with Oprah postponed in case Prince Philip died.
According to Meghan’s friend, CBS presenter Gayle King, the royal couple made a back-up plan with ITV and CBS that would see their explosive interview postponed if Prince Philip, who was at the time still hospitalized, died.
Prince Philip was hospitalized at King Edward VII’s Hospital for a month and has been released from professional care yesterday following heart surgery.
“Well, just so you know, they had done that interview before Prince Phillip went into the hospital,” King insisted as she spilled the news.
“And if something, God forbid, had happened to him, the interview would not have run at this particular time. But the interview was done and was scheduled before he went into the hospital. But a lot of people have raised that point.”
The news about this arrangement could potentially further widen the rift between Prince Harry and his family in the UK amid rumors that the Royals are upset with Meghan and Harry’s decision to share details about the private talks they have had following the interview.
As King previously revealed, she allegedly talked to the couple and they told her that Prince Harry has been in talks with his brother, Prince William, and his father, Prince Charles.
According to King, however, she was told that the conversations Harry had with his family after the interview “were not productive.”
While the Royal Family insists on wanting to talk to Meghan and Harry in private, the details surrounding the clash keep surfacing, whereas King believes that the couple is going public about the matter because nothing else worked.
“I think that Harry and Meghan both have been through so much for the past three years and they really have tried to work it out privately. They really have tried to get help, and nothing was working,” she said.
“So I think they wanted people to have some understanding about why they made the decision that they made and what they’ve been going through, and I do think that they accomplished that. I do. I think it was very brave of her and Harry to reveal what they did.”
