Meghan Markle will not return to the UK as her husband Prince Harry flies back for the unveiling of the statue of his late mother Princess Diana.
Harry and his brother Prince William will reunite to unveil the statue of the Princess of Wales on July 1. The brothers have been working together for the event since 2017.
The Duke of Sussex and the Duke of Cambridge are expected to make separate speeches at the ceremony.
“Meghan is not going to travel. She has just had a baby and Harry will travel alone,” a source close to the Sussexes said.
According to reports, a platform for Diana’s statue has been placed in Kensington Palace’s Sunken Garden as it is said to be her favorite spot in the grounds.
In 2017, the spot was transformed into a tribute to the late Princess of Wales, with a beautiful display of her favorite flowers including daisies, tulips, lilies, and white roses to mark the 20th anniversary of her death.
Kensington Palace’s head gardener Sean Harkin said the choice of flowers reflected the mother-of-two’s love of white and cream blooms.
The Duke of Sussex will be required to produce a negative Covid test before he arrives. He may be required to quarantine for 10 days at his Frogmore Cottage just as he did when he flew back to the UK for Prince Philip’s funeral.
However, he could release himself early from quarantine if he produces a negative test on the 5th day of his stay.
Harry’s planned return to the UK comes after he described his life as a member of the royal family as ‘a mix between The Truman Show and being in a zoo’ during a podcast interview with Dax Shepard.
