Meghan Markle reportedly enjoyed thirteen foreign holidays during her time with the Royal Family despite claiming Palace confiscated her passport and driving license.
In her CBS interview with Oprah, the Duchess of Sussex insisted she was “silenced” by Palace as she claimed she was forced to turn over her passport after moving in with the Royals.
“You couldn’t just go. You couldn’t. I mean, you have to understand, as well, when I joined that family, that was the last time, until we came here, that I saw my passport, my driver’s license, my keys. All that gets turned over. I didn’t see any of that anymore,” the 39-year-old told Oprah.
As The Sun has now revealed, however, the Duchess flew to at least 12 countries to enjoy 13 private trips abroad, on top of her royal trips, after moving in with the Royals and before leaving the Royal Family.
Among the trips the Duchess enjoyed between 2016 and late 2019 were both her official royal tours as well as private vacations – including her baby shower trip to New York, the time she attended fashion designer Misha Nonoo’s wedding in Italy, and the time she and Harry partied with George Clooney at Lake Como.point 442 | 1
According to the reports, it is impossible that Meghan would visit all these countries without her passport, whereas only the Queen is exempted from carrying a passport while traveling.
“Of course the Royal Family would want to keep Meghan’s passport safe,” Royal author Margaret Holder expressed.
“But it’s unthinkable she didn’t carry it for personal and private trips such as her New York baby shower, traveling to see friends in Canada, partying in Amsterdam and going to Lake Como with George Clooney.”
Besides their personal trips to 12 countries, the couple also visited several countries as part of their royal trips to Morocco, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, and Fiji.
