Lizzie Cundy, Meghan Markle’s friend, spoke out about their friendship and revealed that the Duchess of Sussex asked for help in finding a famous British man to date three years before she met Prince Harry.
According to Ms. Cundy, she and Meghan became close friends after running into each other at a charity dinner in 2013.
As the 50-year-old English TV personality revealed in an interview with The Sun, she and Meghan were sharing a girly chat when the American beauty popped the question.
“Do you know any famous guys? I’m single and I really love English men,” she allegedly asked to which Cundy responded by saying: “We’ll go out and find you, someone.”
As the former WAG added, she initially suggested football player Ashley Cole who Meghan ruled out due to his reputation.
“Meghan’s so relaxed, she liked a drink, great fun, I remember her asking about my boys, she was very interested and asking lots of questions,” Cundy added, admitting the two met again on the following day as they joined the Global Gift Gala.
According to the TV personality, the two stayed in touch until Meghan met Harry and ghosted her friends. As Cundy said, she believes Meghan was told to “end contact with people she befriended in the media.”
Earlier this year, Piers Morgan also spoke out about his affiliation with Meghan and claimed the Duchess cut all ties with him after two years of friendship.
“I got to know her quite well over a two year period. We would message each other a lot, e-mail a lot,” The Good Morning Britain host revealed.
Recalling the last time they saw each other, Morgan added:
“I had a couple of pints of real ale and she had dirty martinis. She said afterward in the cab ‘I had a great time. Love to see you again.’ It was purely platonic I hasten to add.
“She went in that cab that night to a party Prince Harry was at and the next night she went on the date with him. I never heard from her again. Ever.
“I don’t like people that behave like that. It’s kind of rude. It showed me that she, I’m afraid, is probably a bit of social climber.”
