Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could be forced to stay apart for up to one month following the Duke’s trip to the UK.
On Sunday afternoon, the Duke of Sussex was spotted disembarking a British Airways plane at London Heathrow Airport after leaving his wife and son in California to attend his grandfather’s funeral.
Before he can attend Prince Philip’s funeral on Saturday, Prince Harry will be forced to undergo a 5-day quarantine. While self-isolation of incoming travelers typically lasts for 10 days, the prince will be able to cut it in half by securing a negative coronavirus test.
While it is not yet clear how long Prince Harry will stay in the UK after Prince Philip’s funeral is over, it has been confirmed that he will be forced to self-isolate for 14 days upon his return to the States.
All this together means that Harry and Meghan will not be in each other’s hands for at least three weeks – or more if the Duke of Sussex decides to extend his UK visit.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people should normally self-isolate for at least seven days.
Since pregnant women are at “increased risk for severe illness,” however, the CDC says unvaccinated travelers who arrive into the country from overseas should stay away from pregnant women for two weeks.
While it is not clear whether Prince Harry has already been vaccinated or not, health protocols could keep the young royal from seeing his wife and son Archie for up to a month.
