Mother Doria Ragland completely supports Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as the couple quit being senior royals.
A friend of the Duchess of Sussex revealed to Daily Mail that she has no plans of returning to the United Kingdom to live.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they were quitting as senior royals, dividing their time between the UK and North America and they plan to become financially independent.
Meghan’s mother, 63-year-old Doria Ragland, gives her full support to her daughter. An insider said that the mother “was really worried about Meghan… and is relieved that her daughter is putting her mental health and well being first.”
The Duchess of Sussex admitted to having struggles after giving birth to Archie, as the friend said that Meghan was ‘miserable in the UK’ and ‘wasn’t sleeping well and started having anxiety attacks about her future.’
“This was her plan all along, to eventually leave the UK and build her own empire with Harry,” the friend explained.
In October, the Duchess admitted to struggling with media scrutiny, saying: “Not many people have asked if I’m okay… It’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.
“Look, any woman especially when they are pregnant you’re really vulnerable and so that was made really challenging, and then when you have a newborn – you know…,” she said in an ITV interview.
The friend added: “Doria is very much about being true to oneself and so of course she will continue to encourage Meghan to take the road less traveled.”
Meghan flew back to Canada where she left 8-month-old Archie with his nanny. Prince Harry is set to follow her.
“She doesn’t want to raise Archie there and she doesn’t want to schlep back and forth. She’ll make extended visits but that’s it,” Meghan’s friend revealed.
“They are looking for a permanent residence in Canada. She said she wants a country house in Whistler outside of Vancouver and a home in Toronto.”
