The Duchess of Sussex has signed a voiceover deal with Disney in return for a donation to Elephants Without Borders, a charity dedicated to protect animals from poaching and conserve wildlife.
Meghan Markle recorded the voiceover before she and her husband Prince Harry going to Canada. The deal was in turn for a donation to the charity.
This comes after the couple’s announcement to step down as senior royals.
The new arrangement with Disney hints the Duchess of Sussex’s future career plans. If they choose to keep their royal titles while advertising themselves for hire, their money-spinning potential could be higher than any A-lister in the world.
They would also be able to command six or seven-figure fees for showing up at an event. According to experts, becoming a brand ambassador could earn them tens of millions per year- A 9-figure sum every year – $100 million would result in $1billion over ten years.
The Duke and Duchess have yet to mention how exactly they want to reach their goal to ‘become financially independent.’
During talks before the holidays, senior members of the royal family said that the couple are agreeing to deal with big companies ‘including Disney,’ according to a report.
One internet user commented: “I can’t stand her but if she is giving all the money to an animal charity I am all for it.”
Another wrote: “This whole scenario might backfire on them. Being famous and being controversial are two very different things. To align with them now shows support for snubbing the monarchy. Some celebs may not bother with them.”
A third said: “In exchange for a donation, eh? How much for the charity and how much for Meghan (while she is living on the Royal dime)?”
Someone else added: “How quick was that she has planned it all along. So disappointed in them both.”
