Meghan McCain is not holding back with her criticism for Vogue Magazine, slamming them for their ‘racist legacy’ that contributes to the toxic fashion industry.
The co-host for ‘The View’ shocked plenty when she slammed the fashion magazine for their recent contributions because she claimed it had many issues. For instance, McCain called out Vogue’s article of 2018, where they put a spread that featured LeBron James, alongside supermodel Gisele Bundchen.
Here, LeBron James posed as an ape that held women. However, that wasn’t the only controversial campaign in her opinion. The magazine’s recent decision to feature First Lady Jill Biden on the magazine’s cover but refuse Melania Trump is another point she outlined recently.
In the same way, McCain slammed the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief who is Anna Wintour. According to her, Wintour was famous for having a history where she simply refused to give black models the opportunity to feature on their magazine’s cover.
All the comments appear to come as a mega backlash after the recent reveal of the magazine for showcasing Jill Biden on the latest cover. However, the fact that they failed to ever include former First Lady Melania Trump was definitely concerning.
The controversial discussion was initiated by Whoopi Goldberg who noted how the magazine referred to Dr.
Jill Biden as the ‘First Lady for all of us,’ only because that is how she actually sees herself.Right after that, Goldberg was quick to question her fellow co-hosts on ‘The View’ regarding why they felt that the magazine never put up Melania.
Therefore, on that note, McCain was quick to respond how Melania Trump ‘was just not the First Lady of all of us- she was just the First Lady for people who thought Barack Obama was never born in the US.’
In addition, McCain slammed Wintour for being overly fashion-conscious and hence didn’t feature the former First Lady because of a fashion choice she made comprising of a green jacket with the statement, ‘I don’t really care, do you?’ Hence, the magazine did not plan on going anywhere near something like that.
