Meghan Markle made a handwritten card for Prince Philip and it was placed on a wreath at St George’s Chapel.
The heavily pregnant Duchess watched the emotional ceremony on television from the couple’s California mansion after she was advised by her doctor not to make the 10-hour flight to the UK.
A wreath from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was left in St. George’s Chapel, insiders told PA news agency.
According to reports, Harry and Meghan personally picked the locally sourced flowers for their tribute – including Eryngium, to represent the Royal Marines, and Acanthus mollis, the national flower of Greece, to represent Prince Philip’s heritage.
The wreath also includes roses in honor of June being the Duke of Edinburgh’s birth month, lavender for devotion, rosemary to signify remembrance, and campanula for gratitude and everlasting love.
Alongside the wreath is a handwritten note from Meghan.
During the service, the Queen wiped away her tears as she mourned in St. George’s Chapel. Her head was bowed in reverence as she accompanied Prince Philip’s coffin on its final journey.
Their eldest son Prince Charles cried as he walked behind the casket followed by other heartbroken royals.
Behind the coffin was the royal procession led by Prince Philip’s children, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward.
His grandchildren, Prince William and Prince Harry, followed but the brothers were separated by their cousin Peter Phillips.
Prince Philip’s casket carried his naval cap, sword, and a wreath of flowers as pallbearers put him on to his self-designed green Land Rover Defender hearse.
After the procession and service, the Duke of Edinburgh’s coffin was lowered into the Royal Vault.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, pronounced the blessing before the 30 members of the Royal family.
