Meghan Markle who has now moved to Los Angeles with her husband Prince Harry and son Archie reportedly had a ‘clash of cultures’ with Buckingham Palace staff.
The staff apparently was not impressed with The Duchess’ celebrity past and her lack of respect for the hierarchy claims a source. The Telegraph’s Camilla Tominey told The New Yorker, the Palace staff were ”less enamored of the very qualities that made her irresistible to the press: her showbiz luster, self-confidence, and feminist habits of the assertion.”
Camilla has covered the royal family for more than a decade before Meghan became a member of the Royals. She even claimed that the aides were not happy with Meghan’s ‘demands.’
Camilla said that there was a ‘clash of cultures’ between the Duchess and the royal staff. Meghan’s lack of understanding of unwritten traditions in the institution was one of the reasons why the aides were not impressed with her.
”It’s a bit like Downton Abbey – there’s a hierarchy of staff who have been at Buckingham Palace for years and years, to serve Queen and country.”
”And, therefore, for Harry and Meghan to be making demands, there was a bit of below-stairs chatter, particularly with the Duchess, that was, “Well, hang on a minute, who do you think you are?”
Harry and Meghan shocked the world when they announced to leave the royal family. They officially stepped down from their roles as senior members of the royal family on March 31, 2020.
Recently, Harry’s friend Dr. Jane Goodall revealed the Duke is finding his new life “a bit challenging” after moving from Vancouver Island to Los Angeles. She told the Radio Times: “I don’t know how his career is going to map out, but yes, I’ve been in touch, though I think he’s finding life a bit challenging just now.”
