She had a conversation with several school children for 20 minutes before they sang Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ for her. The First lady joined a table of school children in making a wreath, adding pine cones to one covered in gold tinsel.
One of the fifth-grade student leaders named Isabelle Bates was surprised to know that Melania had never had a mince pie that is traditionally served during the Christmas season.
”I was surprised at she’s never had a mince pie,’ Isabelle, age 10, said. ‘She said she was going to try one tonight. I thought she was really fun,’ she added. ‘My impression of her was actually really nice. Everyone was expecting her to be very grumpy but she was actually very nice.”
Quiana Mullings, 9 claimed Melania looked sad but was actually ‘very happy.’
”I’m gonna be honest and say her make-up was a bit much,’ Quiana said. ‘It made her look sad but actually, she was very happy.”

Commissioner Anthony Cotterill said: ”The visit was an opportunity to promote our Christmas Present Appeal where we ask people to buy an extra children’s gift this Christmas so we can donate it to a family in need. I am very grateful to Mrs Trump and Mrs Johnson who personally donated gifts to our appeal.”
”I was also proud to highlight Clapton Corps’ work with the local community. Majors Karl and Ruth Gray have run the Clapton Corps for 16 years and have worked hard to meet the needs of local people. From food parcels to after school clubs, their teamwork tirelessly to reach out to those who need us most.”
