Melania Trump was slammed on Twitter after she promoted teaching “healthy online behavior.
” The reason for backlash was her husband President Trump as he repeatedly insulted Democratic candidate Mike Bloomberg on Twitter and, in all caps, threatened to sue some law enforcement officials who angered him.
Palm Beach Atlantic University President Bill Fleming awarded Mrs. Trump. She also received a standing ovation from the crowd of people, according to The Palm Beach Post.
“America’s first lady has sounded the call for action,” Fleming reportedly said. “She serves as a role model with brilliance, elegance and grace.”
While accepting Palm Beach Atlantic University’s “2020 Women of Distinction Award” in Palm Beach, Florida, the first lady said, “We live in an age where too many people allow the number of retweets or likes to define their self-worth.point 440 |
I am convinced now more than ever that teaching healthy online behavior is crucial to securing a safer future for our children.point 106 | ”point 109 | 1
Social media user quickly pointed out Trump’s online behavior and called Melania ‘hypocrite.’
One person wrote, ‘’@MELANIATRUMP is a hypocrite, married to a hypocrite. She gets no credit for this.’’
Another annoyed user wrote: ‘’Today, @FLOTUS received a “Woman of Distinction” award from Palm Beach Atlantic University. That in itself is a fu**ing joke. But listening to her promote positive social media use & teaching healthy online behavior, I wanna puke!’’
Another added: ‘’Is this woman really serious? Hard to tell since the most unhealthy behavior online is coming from inside her home. Which makes the award she is receiving a joke!’’
Some people regularly criticize the First lady’s anti-bullying campaign, a major part of “Be Best.” Trump has recently expressed both grievances and criticisms as he spoke about Bloomberg, calling him “Mini Mike” on Tuesday and, on Wednesday, naming the Democratic candidate a “pathetic debater.”
In December, the president directed his social media anger at young climate activist Greta Thunberg. Trump tweeted that she needed to “chill” and “work on her anger management.”
Trump took to Twitter to mock Greta in September as he showed his displeasure over the teenager being named TIME’s “Person of the Year.”
“Raising emotionally healthy children starts with teaching them how to make responsible decisions,” Mrs. Trump said on Wednesday, according to CNN. “It is our job as adults to pass along wisdom and build children’s confidence, so they have the best opportunity to succeed in life.”
