Animal life is just as precious as a man’s life is.
While there are thousands of people who understand the same, there are millions who do not. Every single day there comes cases of animal abuse or abandonment of animals and similar such cases.
Most of the incidents do not even come out in public light, and the ones that come out do not get enough attention from the public.
It is high time that awareness about animal abuse becomes a part of common life. And it will all start with people who have or want pets.
Frankston Council in Melbourne is taking the initiative to change this by making some changes the way pet owners adopt or buy pets. The council is planning on introducing a test that will make sure that a person is capable of looking after an animal or not. If the person fails the test, they will not be allowed to have an animal.
The question in the test is yet to be set up but the council looks forward to making sure about that the questions are appropriate enough to find out if the person is capable of looking after a pet dog, bird, cat, etc. or not.
Kris Bolam, the Councilor told media, “When we talk to parents, we expect them to be responsible enough to give the right care to their kids but this is not the same what we expect from a pet owner, why?
Pets are the responsibility of parents too and they have to make sure to take right care of these creatures. If a person fails in the test, they should not even imagine owning a pet because that will not be possible.”
People came out and supported the initiative by saying how people own dogs just for the sake of protection and does not give them basic things like a walk, or attention. A dog needs these two things the most.
