A Melbourne located school has found a new way to teach parents how to be on time and that how child safety is an important aspect that is not supposed to be neglected.
They are charging fine from the parents or the career that is supposed to take the child home $10 for every 15 minutes the child has to spend on grounds at after hours because no one has come to get them yet.
Al Siraat College, a private Islamic institution informed parents about the changes in their policy beforehand as they noticed there were several students in the after school hours on the school grounds.
The parents that are now coming late are being fined. The policy says that the parent would be fined with $10 for every 15 minutes they are arriving late to pick their kids from school as for the time being kids are left unsupervised.
The classes at the school are suspended at 3.45pm from Monday to Thursday and for Friday the timings are till 2:30 pm.
Al Siraat College’s Operating head Leah Hamel said that child safety and security is their top priority and that is why they came up with the new policy and wasted no time in implementing it.
The school has Daycare facility too that is open for parents to take membership in if they are not able to come and pick their kids on time.
They started the care facility on the 15th of July and within two days they had implemented their new policy on 17th of July.
Hamel said that they have started recording the in and out the time of the student and on the same basis they are calculating the fine every parent has to pay for being late. He also added that the parents have not given and review on the new change yet.
