It is no secret that Japan is full of wonders and surprises.
And the country has given you another reason to pay a visit!
Cat lovers everywhere would be thrilled to visit the Meow Meow Shrine located in Kyoto. If you’re thinking that the shrine should be filled with fluffy felines, well, you’re absolutely right!
The shrine has a cat monk and adorable kitty assistants.
Now if that isn’t purrfect then I don’t know what is!
If you are ever in Kyoto, don’t forget to visit the Nyan Nyan Ji (Meow Meow Shrine in English).
You will be greeted by the cute head monk of the shrine named Koyuki!
According to Koyuki’s owner, she loves to interact with her ‘worshipers.’
Inside the Meow Meow shrine, you can buy foods and beverages that are also cat-themed.
Speaking about Nyan Nyan Ji, Koyuki’s owner said to Bored Panda: “This temple was opened by painter Toru Kaya with the theme of this favorite cat.”
The place is also full of drawings and statues that feature cats and visitors can purchase some of them inside the ‘Littlefootmark Ren’ shop.
7 cats are now working in the temple: Koyuki, Chin, Konatsu, Chicchi, Aruji, and Chin.
“Visitors who come to worship play with cats and enjoy cafes and cat art,” Koyuki’s owner told Bored Panda.
Koyuki is not the first kitty monk to occupy the shrine.
In fact, there are already three generations of cat monks!
One internet user commented: “This cat is better to be worshiped…meowwww!”
Another wrote: “OMG! I guess I am soon to be converted to this new religion! (laughing emoji) just kidding!”
A third said: “Is there one for Doggo????”
Someone else commented: “I have found my new religion. I will now pray to neko-sama.”
