The US-based space agency, NASA has found a way to make each person on this earth a billionaire.
They have discovered an asteroid, which they have named 16 Psyche. This asteroid is stuffed with platinum and gold, along with nickel and iron.
The total worth of this asteroid has been estimated to be around $10,000 quadrillion or £8,000 quadrillion. This money is enough to make each person on this earth a billionaire.
About its shape, NASA said that it looked ‘somewhat like a potato’.
Though NASA has been aware of this asteroid for a while now, but its exploration has been planned upon now. NASA is planning a launch in August 2022 where they will be setting off a craft towards the asteroid. It is calculated to reach there by early 2026.
But NASA has made it clear that there will be no mining on the surface of 16 Psyche. It is supposed to spend a little less than two years in the orbit. During it stay there, it will be carrying out a study of rocks engaging high-tech gadgets such s neutron spectrometer and gamma rays.
Its diameter is about 226 kilometres and it is hovering somewhere between Jupiter and Mars currently. As per NASA’s reports, its mass is around just one percent of earth’s moon.
The reason that NASA has decided not to haul this asteroid to earth is because it has the capacity to crash economy of the world, which is approximately worth $75 trillion.
NASA says that the sole purpose for this expedition is for the expansion of science. There will be no mining on the surface of 16 Psyche. This orbit hovering might help the scientists to uncover how the core of earth was formed and what are its components.
